How to delete your organization
Deleting an organization permanently erases it and everything in it. There are two paths, and one of them is recoverable.
Warning This is not the same as cancelling a subscription. Cancelling ends billing and keeps your data. Deleting removes it.
Requirements
- Available on: All plans
- Roles: Owner only
Before you delete
Export anything you want to keep. Assets, reports, and the Fixed Asset Register export to CSV, Excel, and PDF. Once erasure completes there is nothing to recover.
The two paths
ACTIVE ──► PENDING DELETION ──(30 days)──┐
│ ├──► permanent erasure
└──► ANONYMIZED (immediate) ───────────┘
The grace path (recommended)
- Go to Settings → Organization.
- Scroll to the deletion section.
- Choose Delete Organization and confirm.
Your organization moves to pending deletion with a date 30 days out. Access is restricted, and you can cancel the deletion at any point in that window.
After 30 days, permanent erasure runs.
The immediate path
Choosing immediate deletion scrubs user identifiers and detaches connected sign-in accounts at once. Erasure of files and records follows.
There is no recovery from this path.
Cancelling a pending deletion
While the organization is pending deletion, the Organization settings page shows the scheduled date and an option to cancel. Cancelling returns the organization to normal.
What gets erased
Permanent erasure removes:
- Every asset, document, image, and work order photo
- Every user, person, location, category, and department
- All history — timelines, service records, incidents, and their snapshots
- The organization record itself
After permanent deletion, no customer file remains.
Erasure deletes your files before removing any records, and aborts rather than proceeding if file erasure fails — retaining data is preferred over leaving orphaned personal files behind. If it aborts, the next run retries.
What is not erased
Provider-hosted documents that do not live in UniAsset's storage — invoice and receipt links, hosted invoice documents, and any webhook URL you configured pointing at your own systems.
Deleting a user rather than the organization
If you only want to remove one person's access, deactivate the user instead. Deactivation revokes access immediately while preserving the historical attribution of everything they did.
Common mistakes
Deleting when you meant to cancel. Cancelling the subscription keeps everything. Deleting does not.
Not exporting first. There is no support route to recover an erased organization.
Assuming 30 days means nothing happens for 30 days. Access is restricted as soon as deletion is requested.
Troubleshooting
I can't find the deletion option. It is Owner-only, at the bottom of Settings → Organization.
I need to transfer ownership instead. See Transferring ownership.
I deleted by mistake and it is within 30 days. Go to Settings → Organization and cancel the pending deletion.
I chose immediate deletion by mistake. Immediate deletion cannot be reversed.
My subscription is still active. Cancel the subscription separately at Settings → Billing.
