How to update your profile and password
Requirements
- Available on: All plans
- Roles: Every role can manage their own profile
Where to find it
Settings → Profile.
What you can change
- Name
- Mobile number
- Password — if you sign in with a password
What you cannot change here
Your email address. Email is your identity in UniAsset and is unique across the whole platform. If it needs to change, contact support.
Your role. Roles are set by an Owner or Admin. See Changing user roles.
Your organization. A user belongs to one organization and cannot move between them. Joining a different organization means a separate account with a different email address.
Changing your password
- Go to Settings → Profile.
- Open the password section.
- Enter your current password and your new one.
- Save.
If you signed up with Google or Microsoft, you have no password to change — you sign in through your identity provider. See Signing in with Google or Microsoft.
Login history
Your profile shows your recent sign-ins, with the date, IP address, and the approximate location derived from it.
Review it occasionally. A sign-in you do not recognise is worth acting on:
- Change your password immediately.
- Tell your organization's Owner or Admin.
Tip Approximate locations are derived from IP address and are often a nearby city rather than your exact one. A neighbouring town is normal; a different country is not.
Common mistakes
Expecting a name change to rewrite history. Your name updates going forward. Records already attributed to you stay attributed to you.
Assuming your profile and your Person record are the same thing. Every user has a linked Person record. Assignments and checkouts target the Person.
Troubleshooting
There's no password section. You sign in with Google or Microsoft, so there is no password on the account.
My password change was rejected. Check your current password is correct and the new one meets the minimum requirements shown.
I can't change my email. Email cannot be changed from the profile page. Contact support.
I forgot my password. Use the password reset link on the sign-in page. The reset link is single-use and expires.
Login history shows a location I've never been. Locations are approximate and derived from IP. If it is genuinely unfamiliar, change your password and notify your Owner.
