Preferences - Customize Your UniAsset Experience

3 min readbeginnerLast updated: January 2, 2026

Overview

The Preferences page lets each user personalise their own UniAsset experience. Changes here apply only to your account — they do not affect other users or organisation-wide settings.

There are two preference groups: your default landing page (which page opens after login) and your email notification settings (how and when you receive alert emails).

Who Can Access This

All users (any role) can access and manage their own preferences. These are personal settings — no user can view or change another user's preferences.

How to Access This Section

  1. Log in to your UniAsset account
  2. Click Settings in the left sidebar
  3. Select Preferences
  4. The Preferences page loads with two cards: Default Landing Page and Email Notifications

Default Landing Page

This setting controls which page you land on immediately after logging in.

Available options

OptionPage
DashboardThe main dashboard overview (default)
AssetsThe full asset list
ConsumablesThe consumables list
Executive SummaryThe executive-level metrics and charts view
Upcoming & AlertsUpcoming maintenance and active alerts

How to change your default landing page

  1. Navigate to Settings > Preferences
  2. Under Default Landing Page, open the After login, go to dropdown
  3. Select the page you want to open after login
  4. The preference saves automatically — a confirmation toast appears

This preference is synced to your account, so it follows you across devices and browsers.

Email Notifications

These settings control whether and how often UniAsset sends you alert emails. In-app notifications are separate and are not affected by these settings.

Email alert mode

Choose how frequently you receive alert emails:

ModeBehaviour
Daily digestOne email each morning summarising all critical issues (default)
Weekly onlyA weekly summary email only — no daily digests
NoneNo alert emails at all — in-app notifications still work normally

Weekly summary

When the email alert mode is set to Daily digest or Weekly only, an additional toggle appears:

Weekly summary — when enabled, you receive a rollup of asset activity and maintenance costs every Monday. This is on by default.

Setting the email mode to None hides this toggle entirely, since no emails are sent.

How to change email notification preferences

  1. Navigate to Settings > Preferences
  2. Scroll to the Email Notifications card
  3. Open the Email alert mode dropdown and select your preferred mode
  4. If the mode is Daily digest or Weekly only, use the Weekly summary checkbox to enable or disable the Monday rollup
  5. Each change saves automatically — a confirmation toast appears for each update

If a save fails (e.g. due to a network error), the setting reverts to its previous value automatically.

Important Notes & Limitations

Preferences are per-user, not organisation-wide

  • Each user manages their own preferences independently
  • Organisation Owners and Admins cannot set preferences on behalf of other users

In-app notifications are not controlled here

  • Setting email mode to "None" only stops email alerts
  • In-app notifications (the bell icon) continue to work regardless of this setting

The default landing page syncs across devices

  • The preference is stored in your account, so changing it on one device applies everywhere you log in

Changes take effect immediately

  • There is no Save button — each preference saves as soon as you change it

Frequently Asked Questions

Will setting email mode to "None" stop all notifications?

No. Only email alerts are turned off. In-app notifications in the UniAsset interface continue to work normally.

Can an Admin change my preferences for me?

No. Preferences are personal and can only be changed by the account owner.

If I switch devices, will my landing page preference carry over?

Yes. The default landing page preference is synced to your account on the server, so it applies on any device you log into.

What is the difference between "Daily digest" and "Weekly only"?

Daily digest sends one email every morning summarising critical issues from the previous day. Weekly only skips the daily emails and sends just a single weekly summary. Both modes can also include the Monday weekly rollup if the Weekly summary checkbox is enabled.

Can I receive the weekly summary without daily emails?

Yes. Set the email alert mode to Weekly only and ensure the Weekly summary checkbox is checked.
