Why Can't I See This Feature?

4 minBeginnerLast updated: January 2, 2026

Why can't I see this feature?

There are four reasons, and they need different fixes.

The four causes

CauseWhat you seeFix
PlanThe item is shown locked, naming the plan that unlocks itUpgrade
RoleThe item or button is simply not thereAsk an Owner to change your role
Expired subscriptionYou can read everything but cannot createRenew
BothLocked, and still locked after upgradingCheck the role too

How to tell which it is

1. Look at the item itself. UniAsset shows plan-locked navigation items with the plan that unlocks them, rather than hiding them. If you can see it named and locked, it is a plan gate.

2. Check your role. Your role is on your profile at Settings → Profile. If a feature is entirely absent rather than locked, a role restriction is the likely reason.

3. Check the plan. Owners can see the current plan and its capabilities at Settings → Plan & Usage. Only Owners see plan and usage information.

What each plan unlocks

CapabilityNovaOrbitOdysseyCosmos
Documents and images with expiry tracking
Maintenance, PM rules, work orders, checklists, incidents
Custom fields
Custom statuses
Depreciation, net book value, Fixed Asset Register, TCO
Asset Check-Out
Executive Dashboard
SLA engine
Multi-site analytics
REST API and integrations
Webhooks
RFID and NFC tag identities
IoT signals
Disposal accounting
Custom roles
Priority support
Microsoft Entra directory sync

Assets are unlimited on every plan, including Nova. Nothing is ever locked because you have too many assets.

Capabilities are not permissions

Both checks run, and both must pass.

PermissionIs this person allowed to?Your role
CapabilityIs this organization's plan allowed to?The plan

A Viewer on Cosmos still cannot delete an asset. An Owner on Nova still cannot open the Executive Dashboard.

Upgrading will not fix a role problem, and a promotion will not fix a plan problem.

Common cases

"There is no New Asset button." Creating assets needs Manager or above.

"I can't import a CSV." Importing assets needs Owner or Admin.

"Settings → Integrations isn't there." It needs Odyssey or above, and Owner.

"Settings → Billing isn't there." Billing is Owner-only.

"I can't see work orders at all." Viewers cannot see work orders, service records, or incidents. Maintenance also needs Orbit or above.

"The SLA panels are locked but the settings page opened." Expected — the page opens on Orbit; the SLA engine needs Odyssey.

"I never see upgrade prompts." They are shown to the Owner only, by design.

"Your subscription has expired"

An expired subscription blocks creating new records — new assets, invited users, uploaded files — while leaving all existing data fully readable.

Renew at Settings → Billing.

I upgraded and it is still locked

Plan is re-read on every request, so an upgrade applies immediately.

  1. Reload the page.
  2. Check Settings → Billing that the payment actually completed. Access is granted when the payment provider confirms it, not when the checkout window closes.
  3. If it still has not applied, use Sync on the Billing Center.

Did I lose anything by downgrading?

No. A downgrade never destroys data. No custom fields are deleted, no API keys revoked, no webhooks deactivated, no configuration cancelled.

Premium functionality stops answering while the capability is absent and resumes on upgrade with nothing to reconfigure.
