Slow Performance - Speed Up UniAsset Loading

6 min readintermediateLast updated: January 2, 2026

Overview

Experiencing slow load times or sluggish performance?
This guide helps you identify and fix common performance issues with UniAsset.

Common Causes of Slow Performance

1. Slow Internet Connection

The most common cause of slow performance is network speed.

Diagnosis:

  • Test your speed at speedtest.net
  • Check if other websites are also slow
  • Compare performance on WiFi vs. a wired connection

Solution:

  • Use a wired connection when possible
  • Move closer to your WiFi router
  • Ask IT about network issues
  • Try again during off-peak hours

2. Browser Cache and Memory

Too much cached data or too many open tabs can slow everything down.

Solution:

  1. Clear browser cache
  2. Close unnecessary browser tabs (aim for fewer than 20)
  3. Restart your browser
  4. Restart your computer if a browser restart doesn’t help

3. Browser Extensions

Certain extensions can impact web application performance.

Solution:

  1. Try UniAsset in incognito/private mode (extensions disabled)
  2. If faster, identify and disable problematic extensions
  3. Ad blockers and privacy tools are common culprits

4. Outdated Browser

Old browsers lack modern performance optimizations.

Solution:

  1. Update to the latest browser version
  2. See our Browser Compatibility guide

5. Large Data Sets

Viewing many assets at once can be slower.

Solution:

  1. Use filters to view smaller subsets of data
  2. Use pagination to limit items per page
  3. Search for specific items instead of scrolling through all assets

Performance Optimization Tips

Optimize Your Browser

ActionImpact
Clear cache weeklyHigh
Keep tabs under 20Medium
Update browserHigh
Disable unused extensionsMedium
Restart browser dailyLow

Optimize Your Workflow

  1. Use filters effectively – Don’t load all assets when you only need a few
  2. Search specifically – Type what you’re looking for instead of scrolling
  3. Bookmark frequent pages – Avoid navigating through menus repeatedly
  4. Use keyboard shortcuts – Faster than mouse navigation

For Slow Searches

If searches take a long time:

  1. Be more specific with search terms
  2. Use filters in addition to search
  3. Search within a specific category or location
  4. Avoid searching with just 1–2 characters

For Slow Reports

If reports take a long time to generate:

  1. Use date range filters to limit data
  2. Filter by category or location
  3. Generate reports during off-peak hours
  4. Consider exporting smaller subsets of data

Technical Troubleshooting

Step 1: Test Your Connection

  1. Run a speed test (speedtest.net)
  2. Minimum recommended: 5 Mbps download
  3. Optimal: 25+ Mbps for best experience

Step 2: Check Browser Resources

  1. Open browser Task Manager:
    • Chrome: Shift + Esc
    • Firefox: about:performance in the address bar
  2. Check memory usage
  3. Close tabs using excessive resources

Step 3: Test in Incognito Mode

  1. Open an incognito/private window
  2. Log into UniAsset
  3. If performance improves, extensions or cache are likely the issue

Step 4: Try a Different Browser

  1. Download a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge)
  2. Test UniAsset performance
  3. Compare results

Step 5: Check Device Performance

  1. Close other applications
  2. Restart your computer
  3. Check for system updates
  4. Ensure you’re not running out of disk space

When Performance Issues Aren’t You

Sometimes slow performance is due to:

  • Planned maintenance – Check our status page
  • Temporary server load – Try again in a few minutes
  • Geographic distance – Performance can vary by region
