How to sign in with Google or Microsoft
UniAsset supports three sign-in methods: email and password, Google, and Microsoft Entra ID.
Requirements
- Available on: Nova, Orbit, Odyssey, Cosmos — Google and Microsoft sign-in are included on every plan
- Roles: Any
Directory sync — automatic provisioning and deprovisioning from Microsoft Entra — is a separate Cosmos capability. Signing in with a Microsoft account works on every plan. See Connecting Microsoft Entra ID.
Signing in to an existing account
- Go to the UniAsset sign-in page.
- Click Continue with Google or Continue with Microsoft.
- Choose your account at the provider and approve the request.
- You land in your organization.
If your UniAsset account uses the same email address as your Google or Microsoft account, the two are linked automatically the first time you use SSO.
Creating a new organization with SSO
- Click Continue with Google or Continue with Microsoft on the sign-up page.
- Authenticate at the provider.
- Complete the short organization setup step — organization name, country, currency, industry, website and phone.
- Your organization is created and you are signed in as its Owner.
An organization created by SSO is identical in every respect to one created by email and password. Both run through the same provisioning path.
New organizations start on Nova.
Accepting an invitation with SSO
If you were invited to an existing organization, open the invitation link from your email first, then choose Google or Microsoft when it asks how you want to sign in.
Warning: Do not go to the sign-up page and click "Continue with Google" when you have been invited. That creates a brand-new empty organization instead of joining the one that invited you.
How SSO accounts differ
| Password account | SSO account | |
|---|---|---|
| Email verification | A verification email is sent | Already verified by the provider |
| Password | Stored as a bcrypt hash | None held by UniAsset |
| Password reset | Available | Not applicable — reset at Google or Microsoft |
| Where access is revoked | UniAsset | Revoking at the provider blocks sign-in; deactivate in UniAsset to remove access |
What happens next
- Every sign-in is recorded in your organization's login log, with IP address, browser and derived coarse location.
- Your role, plan and account status are re-read on every request, so a change made by an admin applies immediately rather than at your next sign-in.
Troubleshooting
"An account with this email already exists." Email addresses are unique across the whole platform. If your address already belongs to another UniAsset organization, you need a different address for this one.
SSO worked but I landed in the wrong organization. You are signed into a different organization that uses the same address. Users belong to exactly one organization and cannot move between them.
Microsoft sign-in is blocked by my IT team. Your Entra administrator needs to approve the application. Ask them to complete the consent flow.
I signed up with a password and now want to use Google. Sign in with Google using the same email address — the accounts link automatically.
My account was deactivated. Deactivation revokes access on the next request regardless of sign-in method. Ask your Owner or Admin to reactivate you. See How to reactivate a user.
For other sign-in problems, see Login issues.
