How to install UniAsset on your phone or desktop
UniAsset is an installable web app. You install it directly from your browser — there is no App Store or Play Store download, and nothing for your IT team to distribute.
Once installed it launches from your home screen or dock in its own window, without browser tabs and address bar.
When to use this
- Field technicians who need UniAsset at arm's length while working on equipment
- Anyone doing a physical stock walk or location audit
- Desktop users who want UniAsset in its own window rather than a browser tab
Requirements
- Available on: Nova, Orbit, Odyssey, Cosmos
- Roles: Any
- A modern browser — Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox
Steps — Android
- Open UniAsset in Chrome and sign in.
- Tap the ⋮ menu.
- Tap Install app or Add to Home screen.
- Confirm.
You may also see an install prompt appear at the bottom of the screen — tapping it does the same thing.
Steps — iPhone and iPad
- Open UniAsset in Safari and sign in.
- Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow).
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add.
Important: On iOS this only works in Safari. Chrome and Firefox on iOS cannot install web apps.
Steps — Windows and Mac desktop
- Open UniAsset in Chrome or Edge.
- Look for the install icon in the address bar, or open the ⋮ menu and choose Install UniAsset.
- Confirm.
The app appears in your Start menu, Applications folder or dock.
What happens next
- UniAsset launches standalone from your home screen or dock.
- You stay signed in between launches, just as you would in the browser.
- Updates arrive automatically — there is nothing to update manually and no version to keep in step.
What the installed app does not do
Being honest about this saves disappointment:
- It does not work offline. You need a connection. Offline capability is not available today.
- It does not send push notifications to your lock screen. Alerts arrive in the in-app notification centre and by email.
- It does not use the device camera directly for capture. Photos are uploaded from your gallery, so take the photo first and then attach it.
Troubleshooting
I can't find the install option. You are probably on iOS in a browser other than Safari, or on an older browser version. Update your browser, or switch to Safari on iOS.
The install prompt does not appear. Prompts are shown once. Use the browser menu instead — the option is always there even when the prompt is not.
I installed it but I keep getting signed out. Clearing browser data clears the app's session too. Check whether your browser or a privacy extension is clearing site data on exit.
It looks the same as the website. It is the same product. The difference is that it launches standalone from your home screen instead of inside a browser tab.
