Dashboard and navigation overview
This article maps the product so you know where everything lives.
Requirements
- Available on: Nova, Orbit, Odyssey, Cosmos
- Roles: All roles, but the sidebar only shows what your role permits
The main dashboard
Dashboard is your landing view. It shows:
- Asset counts and status distribution across your portfolio
- Upcoming and overdue work needing attention
- Recent activity across the organization
- Alerts that need action
- Next best action — the single most useful thing to do next, based on your current state
- Asset intelligence — where your records are thin: assets missing purchase data, missing maintenance history, missing documents, or with no recorded activity

The top bar
- Global search finds assets by name, serial number and identifying fields.
- The AI Command Bar answers plain-English questions about your own assets. See How to ask questions about your assets.
- The notification centre shows alerts. Read state is per user, so dismissing an organization-wide alert does not hide it from your colleagues.
Why some items look locked
The sidebar is role-aware and plan-aware. Instead of hiding paid modules silently, a locked item stays visible and tells you which plan unlocks it. If your role does not permit a page at all, it does not appear.
See Understanding plans and capabilities and Why can't I see this feature?.
Troubleshooting
The sidebar looks shorter than a colleague's. They have a higher role, or your organization is on a plan that does not include those modules.
Executive is missing. It requires Odyssey or above and the Owner or Admin role.
I upgraded but a module is still locked. Plan and role are re-read from the database on every request, so an upgrade applies immediately. Reload the page; if it persists, check Settings → Plan to confirm the plan actually changed.
I see usage warnings and my colleague does not. Usage warnings and upgrade prompts are shown to Owners only.
