Site, Location and asset organization

UniAsset answers where with two layers:

Site
 └── Location
      └── Asset

What each layer means

Site — the operational or physical boundary where the organization operates (plant, campus, warehouse, hospital).

Location — a physical place inside that Site (building, floor, room, bay). Locations nest.

Asset — assigned to a Location. Through that Location it belongs to exactly one Site.

Sites and Locations answer physical questions. They are not departments, categories, or custody.

Typical pattern

Site: London HQ
Location: Floor 3 → Room 302
Asset: Dell Latitude 5520

The asset lives in Room 302, which is inside London HQ.

What this is not

Not a department. Cost ownership is a department.

Not custody. Who has the asset right now is assignment or check-out.

Not a category. What kind of thing it is lives under categories.

Working with the hierarchy

1. Manage Sites at Dashboard → Sites.
2. Create Locations under a Site at Dashboard → Locations.
3. Assign Assets to Locations when creating or editing an asset.
