How to use the Upcoming view
Upcoming is the consolidated forward view: everything due, in one place, instead of four.
Requirements
- Available on: All plans
- Roles: Every role can open it. What appears depends on what you can see.
Where to find it
Dashboard → Upcoming, near the top of the sidebar.
What it consolidates
| Due | From |
|---|---|
| Maintenance | PM rules and service schedules |
| Document expiry | Attached documents and document assets |
| Warranty expiry | Asset warranty dates |
| Checkout returns | Items checked out and expected back |
Why it exists
Each of these lives in its own module and raises its own alerts. Upcoming is the answer to "what needs attention this week?" without opening four screens and mentally merging them.
It pairs with Dashboard → Notifications, which holds alerts as they are raised. Upcoming is the plan; Notifications is the prompt.
Using it as a routine
Open it at the start of the week. Anything due in the next fortnight that needs a vendor booked or a part ordered gets actioned now, not when the alert fires.
Sort by consequence, not date. A service due next week on a Critical asset outranks one overdue on a spare in storage.
Clear the expired items first. An expired certificate is a live compliance problem.
Warnings arrive early on purpose
UniAsset warns ahead of the date across the board — document expiry, warranty expiry, preventive maintenance within its configured window, checkout returns approaching. Usage warnings fire at 80% of a limit, not 100%.
The system is designed as an early-warning instrument, not a post-mortem tool. Upcoming is where that shows.
Common mistakes
Only looking at it when an alert arrives. By then it is due, not upcoming.
Treating it as a task list you can tick off. Items leave Upcoming when the underlying condition is resolved — the service recorded, the document renewed, the item checked back in.
Ignoring it because the list is long. A long list usually means warning windows are set too wide, or a backlog needs clearing.
Troubleshooting
Upcoming is empty. Nothing is due within the warning windows — or nothing has expiry dates and PM rules set.
Something I expected isn't listed. Check the underlying record has a date: an expiry date on the document, a warranty date on the asset, an expected return on the checkout, an interval on the PM rule.
An item stays after I dealt with it. The condition has to actually clear. Recording a service record resets a PM rule; checking an item in closes a checkout.
Maintenance items aren't showing. Maintenance and PM need Orbit or above.
Checkout returns aren't showing. Asset check-out needs Orbit or above.
