Can I build custom reports in UniAsset?
Short answer: there is no report builder, and there are no saved or scheduled reports. There is a fixed set of reports, plus filtering and export — which covers most of what a builder would be used for.
What UniAsset gives you
A fixed set of reports at Dashboard → Reports:
| Report | Answers |
|---|---|
| Asset report | What do we own, and in what state? |
| Asset cost | What has each asset cost us in total? |
| Category cost | Which classes of asset consume the budget? |
| Department cost | Which units are carrying the cost? |
| Maintenance | What work has been done, and what is outstanding? |
| Depreciation | Book value and depreciation schedules |
| Fixed Asset Register | The audit-ready financial position |
| Compliance | Document and certification status against expiry |
| Checkout | Custody history and outstanding items |
| Trends | How the portfolio and its costs are moving over time |
Filtering on the asset list by status, category (including all descendants), location, department, assigned person, criticality, warranty window, and any custom field.
Export of any report or filtered view to CSV, Excel, or PDF.
What is not included
- No drag-and-drop report builder
- No saved report definitions
- No scheduled report delivery by email
Reports are derived at read time, which is why they can never be stale — but it also means there is nothing to save.
Getting the analysis you need
1. Filter, then export
Most "custom report" requests are a filtered view. Filter the asset list, export to CSV or Excel, and work from there.
Filter state is in the URL, so the view itself is shareable before anyone exports.
2. Use custom fields for your own dimensions
(Orbit and above)
If you need to slice by something UniAsset does not have a field for — a cost centre code, a compliance grade, a contract reference — create a custom field for it. Custom fields are filterable and are included in exports.
This is the closest thing to a custom report dimension.
3. Ask the AI Command Bar
For a quick question rather than a recurring report, ask it in plain English: "which assets are overdue for maintenance?", "what did we spend on the forklifts this year?"
Every figure comes from your own records. See How to ask questions about your assets.
4. Pull data through the API
(Odyssey and above)
If you have a reporting tool of your own, webhooks push events to it as they happen.
Common mistakes
Waiting for a report builder before adopting the product. Filter and export covers most reporting needs today.
Creating custom fields that duplicate categories. Categories are already a filterable hierarchy that includes descendants.
Rebuilding depreciation in a spreadsheet. UniAsset computes it with six methods. Export the result rather than the inputs.
Troubleshooting
I can't find the report builder. There isn't one. Use filters plus export.
I want reports emailed weekly. Scheduled report delivery is not available. The weekly digest covers operational alerts, not reports.
My custom field isn't filterable. Custom fields need Orbit or above. Check the field is not archived.
Reports are locked. Depreciation and cost reports need Orbit or above; checkout reports need Orbit or above. Viewing any report needs Manager or above.
